πŸ†˜ Troubleshooting & Help

Common issues and solutions for using PixelProbe tools

❌ "No metadata found" or "N/A" for all fields

If you're seeing N/A for all metadata fields, here are the most common reasons:

πŸ“Έ PNG or edited photos

Why: PNG files typically don't store EXIF data. Screenshots are also usually PNG format.

Solution: Use original JPG/JPEG photos from your camera or phone. If you edited the photo, try the original file.

🌐 Downloaded from social media

Why: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter strip most metadata before serving images.

Solution: Use the original photo from your camera roll before uploading to social media.

βœ‚οΈ Photo was previously cleaned

Why: You or someone else may have already removed the metadata.

Solution: This is actually good for privacy! If you need the metadata, find the original uncleaned file.

πŸ“± Location services were disabled

Why: Your camera app didn't have permission to access location when the photo was taken.

Solution: Enable location services for your camera app if you want GPS data embedded.

πŸ“‚ File won't upload or "Invalid file" error

Having trouble uploading your photo? Check these common issues:

πŸ“ File size is too large

Issue: Files over 50MB may be slow to process or fail.
Solution: Try compressing the image or using a smaller version. Most phone photos are under 10MB.

πŸ–ΌοΈ Unsupported file format

Supported formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, and most RAW formats (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG)
Not supported: GIF, BMP, TIFF, PDF
Solution: Convert your file to JPG using an image editor.

πŸ”’ Browser compatibility

Issue: Very old browsers may not support modern file APIs.
Solution: Try using Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge (updated to latest version).

πŸ’Ύ File is corrupted

Issue: The file may be damaged or incomplete.
Solution: Try opening the file in an image viewer first. If it doesn't open, the file is corrupted and can't be processed.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Map not loading or showing location

Having issues with the Location Finder tool? Here's what to check:

πŸ“ No GPS data in photo

Most common cause: Your photo doesn't contain GPS coordinates.
How to check: Use the EXIF Data Viewer tool first. Look for "GPS Latitude" and "GPS Longitude" fields. If they show "N/A", the photo has no location data.
Solution: Take a new photo with location services enabled on your device.

🌐 Network connectivity issues

Issue: The map tiles and geocoding service require an internet connection.
Solution: Check your internet connection. Try refreshing the page. GPS coordinates will still be shown even if the map doesn't load.

🚦 Geocoding service rate limit

Issue: You've checked too many locations too quickly.
Solution: Wait a few minutes before trying again. The GPS coordinates are still visible and accurate.

βš™οΈ Other common issues

πŸ”„ Page is stuck loading

Solution: Refresh the page (Ctrl/Cmd + R). For very large files, wait up to 30 seconds. Clear your browser cache if the problem persists.

πŸ’Ύ History features not working

Issue: You're in private/incognito browsing mode.
Solution: History features require regular browsing mode. Your photos are still processed client-side and never uploaded, even in regular mode.

πŸ“± Mobile app not working correctly

Solution: Make sure you're using your mobile browser (Safari, Chrome), not a social media in-app browser. In-app browsers may have limited functionality.

⬇️ Download not starting

Solution: Check if your browser is blocking downloads. Look for a blocked popup notification in your address bar. Allow downloads from this site.
