Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the GPS location?

GPS accuracy depends on your device. Smartphones typically have 5-10 meter accuracy in open areas with good satellite visibility. Urban areas with tall buildings or indoor locations may have lower accuracy (20-50 meters). The coordinates shown are exactly what your device recorded when the photo was taken.

Why don't all my photos show locations?

Not all photos have GPS data. Location services must be enabled when taking the photo, and your camera/phone must have GPS capability. Many DSLR cameras don't have built-in GPS, while most smartphones do. Also, if location was disabled in your camera app settings, GPS coordinates won't be saved.

Can I remove GPS data after viewing it?

Yes! After viewing your photo's location, you can use our Metadata Remover or Privacy Check tools to strip GPS coordinates before sharing your photos online.

What's the address lookup feature?

We use reverse geocoding to convert GPS coordinates into a human-readable address. This connects to an external service (Nominatim) to look up the address based on the latitude/longitude. If the lookup fails or you're offline, you'll still see the raw coordinates.

Is the map interactive?

Yes! You can zoom in/out, pan around, and click on markers to see details about each photo. If you upload multiple photos, all locations will be shown on the same map with numbered markers. The map automatically centers and zooms to show all your photo locations.
